Ten Tips for Panelistsby Darren Barefoot ( )
All of us organizers are moderating at least one panel discussion at Northern Voice. As such, I thought it'd be a good idea to pass on (via Dana), Guy Kawasaki's The Art of Being on a Panel. Here's an excerpt:
7. Make casual conversation. You’re on stage, but act like you’re not. Simply make conversation with the moderator and other panelists. Don’t pontificate and don’t “make a speech.
More Speakers for Northern Voiceby Darren Barefoot ( )
We're very pleased to be adding a couple of additional speakers to the NV line-up:
It's strictly a coincidence that both of these guys are conference organizers. It's not like us NV folks want to be, you know, invited to other conferences or anything. But I jest. In truth, I'm hoping to convince Chris to blow off Las Vegas and have the next Gnomedex here in Vancouver.
New Registration Contest - Win an RCA MP3 Playerby Darren Barefoot ( )
Tod Maffin, CBC tech dude and Northern Voice speaker, has kindly donated an RCA Lyra 128 MB MP3 player for a contest. So, we're having one.
Everybody who registers between today, December 17 and Friday, January 7, 2005 is eligible to win the MP3 player. That's all there is to it. Shortly thereafter, we'll randomly draw one registrant's name and announce the winner right here.
Speakers Don't Have to Registerby Darren Barefoot ( )
Somebody asked, so I thought I'd post a quick entry. If you've been selected as a speaker, you don't have register for Northern Voice. If you have already registered, and want a refund, let us know and we'll hook you up.
T-Shirt Winnersby Darren Barefoot ( )
I finally got around to creating and running a report in Sporg (which, may I say, was dead easy) to determine who the first 25 registrants were. I filtered out a few of the speakers who had registered early--they get t-shirts for speaking.
Congratulations to our first 25 winners! You'll get your t-shirt when you register. I don't know what it looks like yet, but it'll be cool:
